Bigicia in Waiting List Song Contest

Debuting in WLSC

The Kingdom of Bigicia became an associate member of the Natia Broadcasting Union in January 2012 and in March 2012 debuted in the Waiting List Song Contest, a contest deeply linked with the main event organized by the NBU, Nation Song Contest. The nation debuted in 2012 during the 17th edition of the contest, hosted in Antsel, Brughentwerp and participated continuously until the 34th edition, when it became a full member of the roster and debuted in Nation Song Contest.

During a brief stint - one single edition - the newly established broadcaster tried to return to Waiting List Song Contest in January 2016, as was befitting for an associate member. Still not fully recovered from the economical crisis, the country could not afford the fees, so the high council decided to withdraw the next edition. Some council members were also outraged that the band Saint Motel participated under the name of "Sovngarde" and not Bigicia, sparking controversy and ending with the exile of the band from the kingdom.

When the nation reapplied to the NBU and became an associate member in November 2016, they also returned to the contest. Since then, Bigicia has participated in every single edition except the 181st one when the contest was hosted by the nation of Baia Papaya and the singer selected did not feel safe to travel to the Baia Papayan islands. Bigicia continued to participate even after becoming a full member, as the NBU now permitted full members to participate in Waiting List Song Contest as well, due to a very low number of associate members at the time.
