The Waiting List Song Contest 206 was the 206th edition of the Waiting List Song Contest. Following their organisation the year before, current winner - Solentoya declined the offer to host the 206th edition as well. This resulted with second placed Moisantia hosting the event. Theme of the edition was traveling with the tagline "from Moisantia to the world".
ÜÜCS announced that their participation at the 205th contest was their last. Tanoiro announced a break that would last for the rest of the year. Seven, Belvist, Emsfrynt and Kadis returned. Låpøtré, autonomous region of Cydoni-Gibberia voted as a guest and announced they will debut separately from mainland at the 207th WLSC. Kadis won, followed by host nation Moisantia in second place and Utopolis in third. This was fifth victory for Kadis.
Location and venue
During the press conference on the 10th October, the organising committee for WLSC 206 have revealed the satellite arena that would play host to the fan broadcast of the Ultimate World Tour edition of the contest. The brand new Hydra Cube Arena in Moisantia's second largest city, Johan City, has the capacity for almost 30,000 fans, but because of the ‘challenging times’, the ticket sales were be limited to 15,000 to ensure adequate safety precautions could be followed.
Presenters
Following the news that Johan City's Hydra Cube Arena would be the location for the live broadcast of the Waiting List Song Contest 206, Moisantian broadcaster MTV has just revealed the two principal hosts for the show.
Claire Richards, lead singer of the legendary pop group "Steps" who have taken Moisantia to the heights of two 2nd places in WLSC with their singles "Scared of the Dark" and "What The Future Holds". She said that she was “ excited to front this unique world tour concept” and that she "has always loved travelling, with some of my fondest memories being the time that I've spent with my bandmates between shows exploring different cities and cultures and meeting our fans from across the world." She wouldn't comment on the possibility of a live performance during the show.
Jamie Dornan, actor, model and star of the Fifty Shades series of films among other works. Jamie had completed filming of his upcoming drama "Wild Mountain Thyme" in the Shilling Forest to the north of Moisantia, and jumped at the chance to co-host WLSC 206 alongside Claire. When asked about the contest, he answered: "Steps were always a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine as I was growing up, so knowing that Claire was hosting this event just gave me the extra push to do it. I'll definitely need to practice those dance moves though!"
Theme and format
The show was imagined as a world tour where each country was represented by a “stopover”. The main event took place in Moisantia, but the celebrations were organised around the globe. Special postcards were made by Moisantian delegation depicting these events and were available during the Live Listening. The complete list of stopovers is available in the table below.
Moisantia has been praised as an excellent host as they provided many innovative techniques and ideas. Postcards and the results segment were regarded as very Eurovision like and fresh with up to 14 countries following them during the live show on Plug.dj.
