Nation Song Contest 129 was hosted by Pebbleland for the first time time following their close-fought tie-break victory over Yaponesia in the previous edition, only the second instance of a tied victory in the history of the contest.
This edition was themed around 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' with the slogan of 'Elements'. The participating nations were divided into four groups, depending on the semifinal they were in; the Fire Nation, the Water Tribe, the Earth Kingdom and the Air Nomads.
Hypjø won the contest for the third time, although it was their first victory under their new name. Fresh from hosting the previous edition, it was a convincing victory, granting them the right to host again.
